Roundabout Construction To Enter the Next Phase

Starting in early April, the Holman Highway 68 Roundabout Project will enter the next phase of construction as crews begin to focus their work on the south side of the intersection, near the on-ramp to southbound Hwy 1 and the main gate to Pebble Beach. This phase of construction will include night work involving lane closures and detours. Night work is generally between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. in order to avoid the busiest times for traffic congestion.

Night work will be especially noticeable during early April when crews will be working on multiple sections of the intersection.  For the first two weeks of April, expect nighttime flaggers and detours at the intersection from time to time.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather and highway construction, the exact dates for night work have not been finalized. Drivers are encouraged to sign up for text message alerts about upcoming closures. People can sign up to receive text message alerts for the Holman Highway 68 Roundabout by texting 68roundabout to 888777.

According to construction manager Bobby Pentorali, “During this time, there will be several nights when the bridge, or the Highway 1 Southbound on- and off-ramps, will need to be closed. Detours and signage will be in place. We recommend everyone to sign up for text message notifications and plan to use an alternate route if possible.”
During the various closures:
• Emergency vehicles will have full access at all times.
• The CHP will be onsite to assist with traffic control.
• Motorists should expect delays of approximately 10 – 15 minutes
