Emergency Repair Work on Highway 68

MONTEREY –Crews will be working on a 2-week-long emergency repair project on a two-mile section of Highway 68 (Holman Hwy.) between the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) and Stuart Ave. (top of Forest Ave in Pacific Grove), starting Monday, January 25, Caltrans officials have announced.

The first phase of the roadwork will consist of one-way traffic control with flagging from 10 am to 2 pm Monday, Jan. 25 through Friday, Jan. 29, weather permitting. Up to 30-minute delays are expected and motorists are advised to take an alternate route. Electronic message signs will be posted alerting motorists of the work. The CHP will be present to assist with traffic control.

The second phase between Stuart Ave. and Sunset Dr. will commence Monday, Feb. 2, and should be completed by the end of the week, Friday, Feb. 6.

The emergency roadwork being done consists of repairing the roadway, especially patching the potholes from the recent storm and preparing the road for future inclement weather. Roadwork on the first section should be completed by Friday, Jan. 29, weather permitting.  Work on the second section (Forest Hill in Pacific Grove)should be completed by Friday, Feb. 6.

Emergency roadwork will be performed by Caltrans Monterey Maintenance crews.
