Short Term Rental Questions

Questions were asked at the recent DMFPO Semi-Annual Meeting regarding the relationship between Pebble Beach and the County in regard to Short Term Rentals:

  • In Del Monte Forest, property owners wishing to run a STR need three things:
    1. Transient Occupancy Tax certificate,
    2. Land Use Permit from the County, and
    3. Consent Agreement with Pebble Beach Company to ensure the STR is not in violation of your CC&Rs.
  • If you want to make a complaint or report an STR, simply Google “host compliance Monterey County” or “STR complaint Monterey County” and you will be routed to the Host Compliance website where you can file a complaint online.
  • Complaints are logged, but currently there is not the staff to respond to all of them. Alternatively, you can call Supervisor Adams’ office or the DMFPO office, who will route you to the right person at Pebble Beach Company. The County and PBC work together on complaints and on the permitting.
