A former Deputy Sheriff in Santa Clara County, the career of Chuck DeWitt has spanned more than four decades of public service.
A native Californian and Stanford grad, Chuck was Director of Justice Services in Silicon Valley until 1984, when he accepted a position at the U.S. Department of Justice. Assigned to the White House in 1989, DeWitt took charge of an investigation into terrorist threats and border security. In 1990, he was nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as Director of the National Institute of Justice, where he was responsible for crime prevention and law enforcement programs across the Nation. After retiring from the Justice Department, he and his partner formed Lafayette Group, a firm providing public safety and national security services for the U.S. Government to this day.
After too many years away from California, Chuck came home with his wife Bonnie to retire in Pebble Beach. Chuck and Bonnie are active members of our community, grateful for every day in the beautiful Del Monte Forest.
A Director on the DMFPO Board, Chuck also chairs the Public Safety Committee.
